MARISSA LAUREN
ABOUT
Marissa Lauren is a singer/songwriter from Redondo Beach, CA. She writes piano driven Pop music with heavy Indie Pop and Folk influences, plus the occasional sprinkling of R&B, giving her a truly unique sound. She has been compared to artists like Regina Specktor, Sara Bareilles, Kate Nash, and Adele. Marissa recently caught the attention of singer Ingrid Michaelson who called her voice 'beautiful' & 'haunting'. Since then, she has opened for comedian, Lena Dunham, on her unconventional book tour 'Not That Kind of Tour', and began working on her Debut EP 'Now & Forever'.
Marissa was awarded Best Vocals, Most Original, and Song of The Year at UC Irvine's Antstock music festival; a campus-wide competition for songwriters. Her cover of Nicki Minaj's, 'Starships' gained much attention when Nicki Minaj herself tweeted Marissa's video to her 17 million followers. 97.1 AMP Radio also named Marissa's acoustic/acapella version of 'Starships' one of "the best covers of the year's hottest tracks!".
Her cover projects have also inspired her to explore music production. Today, she arranges, records, and produces music projects from her home studio. When she isn't writing, or collaborating with other artists and producers, you can find her playing solo sets (and whenever possible, with a full band) all over Southern California.
